We really enjoyed organizing the MAKE & CRAFT Halloween Contest this year.
We've already shown you the winners, but thought we'd share more about the
sweet prizes. I got to pack up the goodies and snapped a few pictures before
the FedEx guy picked them up. Thanks to all who entered the contest! Above:

Rotary Tool
A Dremel 4000 6/50 Is Just About The Most Useful Of The Dremel Rotary Tools
The stability gained from the pencil-grip nose cap, the six foot cord and the replaceable motor brushes make the durable Dremel 4000 a joy to use. The output shaft can be rapidly and easily locked any time you need to change an accessory, while the speed settings can be simply adjusted accurately because the dial is easy to read. And the Dremel 4000 weighs just over one pound, so you can work all day without excessive strain on wrists, arms, or hands.
If you are looking for a different Dremel rotary tool there are many other Dremel tools including:
- the Dremel 300
- the Dremel 8000
- the Dremel 400
There are a wide variety of projects that the Dremel 4000 is well suited for making it a very versatile tool. In fact, it's the only rotary tool compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments, plus the MultiSaw and Planer attachments originally created for the 400 Series XPR rotary tool. In addition you can get the Sharpener attachment for tools and lawn mower blades; the addition of a pistol grip by using the Detailer's Grip, resulting in more control for fine work; and the Sanding/Grinding Guide, which allows you to either guide a workpiece to a securely mounted rotary tool or guide the tool along the edge of a flat or beveled surface.
Some of the possibilities for using the Dremel 4000 are: using a flex shaft and an EZ Lock disc to remove sections of rusty pipe, Cleaning aluminum with a wire wheel, etching glass, using a ball-burr to shape and cut away things like plastic, and even polishing stones.
In Dremel 4000 review we will look at 2 Dremel 4000 kits, the $75 and the $140 versions. As you might guess the tool is the same but the more expensive one simply has more accessories.
Achieving perfect results is a balance between the right speed, the right bit or attachment, and practice. As we previously stated the Dremel 4000 works with all Dremel attachments, accessories and bits so that is one factor down. The Dremel 4000 adjusts to speeds from 5000 rpm's to 35,000 rpm's so there are a variety of speeds available. That leaves practice and trying different speeds and accessories and practicing with them will eventually lead to a perfect job every time.
Weighing in at about 1 pound, you would not think that weight would be a problem, but in some situations the Dremel 4000 6/50 is just too heavy. When doing delicate artsy work for long periods of time you may find that the Dremel 4000 is just too heavy. Using an attachment such as the air attachment can fix this problem. The Dremel 4000 6/50, which is the more expensive of the previously mentioned kits, is the most versatile because it has the widest variety of attachments and bits. This kit provides the power, durability and versatility to get any craft project done easily and efficiently. The numbers 6/50 mean that the Dremel 4000 6/50 comes with 6 attachments and 50 accessories. Of course it has a carrying case which allows you to carry it all around.
